Meet Dr. Brunsvold
Dr. Brunsvold graduated summa cum laude from Auburn University and cum laude from UAB School of Medicine. But when her conventional medical training couldn't solve her daughter's and her own health problems, she developed a passion for functional medicine. Functional medicine looks for the root causes of symptoms and diseases by focusing on lifestyle, environment, and genetic factors, as well as emotional and spiritual contributors to the disease process. Dr. Brunsvold is an Institute for Functional Medicine Certified Practitioner.
After addressing her autoimmune thyroid issues, she had to learn how to navigate her own perimenopause and menopause journey. She was trained in bioidentical hormone replacement locally by Dr. James McMinn and Dr. Ashley Tamucci, and she continues her hormone education through A4M and The Menopause Society.
She and her husband, Gavin, a local child and adolescent psychiatrist, have two amazing children, Megan and Erik, who are both pursuing their calling in medicine as well.
